2020 AFC West Cap Space and Free Agency

Well, the season is over (Fuck the Chiefs). It’s time to start gearing up for next year. We are going to take a look at each team’s cap space, their key free agents and a major signing they could/should go after.

CAP SPACE:

(Numbers according to OverTheCap.com.)

Denver Broncos $62,115,714 million (7th in the League}

Las Vegas Raiders $51,878,096 million (11th in the League)

Los Angeles Chargers $49,062,802 million (16th in the League)

Kansas City Chiefs $13,674,494 million (25th in the League)

The Broncos, Raiders and Chargers should all be buyers in this year’s free agency market. The Chiefs are somewhat cap strapped but could cut several players to free up space. This will be a very interesting free agency market and I expect a couple of big trades as well.

FREE AGENCY:

We will look at each team’s key free agents and a possible target acquisition.

Denver Broncos

Justin Simmons, Shelby Harris, Connor McGovern

Simmons was one of the best safeties in the league last year and was a monster in Fangio’s defensive scheme. The Broncos have a whopping four contracts expiring along the defensive line, and of those, Shelby Harris‘ should clearly be the top priority. McGovern played every offensive snap of 2019 for the Broncos, didn’t draw a single penalty flag.

Target Acquisition: WR Robby Anderson – The Broncos have a true #1 receiver in Sutton but need a speed receiver to complete Pat Shurmur’s offense. Anderson would be a perfect fit and allow the Broncos to focus on their other needs in the draft.

Las Vegas Raiders

Daryl Worley, Dion Jordan, Benson Mayowa

Worley bounced around the secondary during the season because of injuries, but is a starting-caliber corner. Jordan played the final six games of the year and had two sacks and was coming on strong. Mayowa only played 28.93% of the defensive snaps and was second on the team with 7 sacks.

Target Acquisition: ILB Cory Littleton – The Raiders have not had a play-making middle linebacker that can cover since Kirk Morrison. This guy can do it all and is exactly what they need.

Los Angeles Chargers

Melvin Gordon, Hunter Henry, Derek Watt

No need to mention Rivers as he is already gone. Melvin Gordon held out and is good as gone especially with Austin Ekeler in the fold. Henry is a match-up nightmare even with his injury history, should be resigned. Watt is my favorite and is a flat-out monster.

Target Acquisition: OT Jack Conklin – The Chargers have to fix their offensive line so why not sign a plug and play starter via free agency.

Kansas City Chiefs

Emmanuel Ogbah, Chris Jones, Stefen Wisniewski

Before suffering a season-ending torn pectoral muscle, Ogbah was playing lights out. Wisniewski was signed late and came in a took the starting left guard position. Chris Jones is a flat out beast and will cost 18-20 million a year to resign.

Target Acquisition: CB Byron Jones – The Chiefs need to fix the corner back position with three of theirs becoming free agents. Jones would be a great fit if they can find the money.

This should be one of the more interesting off seasons we have had in some time. I hope my Raiders hit it out of the park and the rest of you shit the bed.

Good luck and of course……………FO!
